Epic Brand fats, lards, and tallow

If you can’t find the time, space, equipment, or motivation to render your own animal fats, no problem! There are some great companies that will do it for you. Epic Brand has an awesome line of Animal Fats & Tallows that I like to buy when I’m on the road, or living off the grid for any amount of time. They’re sourced well, shelf stable, delicious and nutritious. I highly recommend them for all your cooking and baking needs.

Tallows, lards, and animal fats are stable under high heat conditions and therefore great for frying, and even crisping!

Primal Kitchen sauces, dressings, and mayo

Primal Kitchen is a great brand for you folks who like it saucy, but realize that industrialized seed, nut, and vegetable oils are disastrous to your health. Since the U.S. has unfortunately given in to industrialized oils as our main source of fats, it’s extremely difficult to find products that aren’t loaded with things like, canola, rapeseed, cottonseed, corn, or safflower oils. Primal Kitchens makes sauces, mayonnaises, and dressings with healthy, cold pressed oils like Avocado, Coconut and Olive. So if you don’t have the time, space or interest to make your own sauces, dressings, and mayo’s then try Primal Kitchen!

Lily’s chocolate

I like Lily’s Chocolate bars a whole lot. Mainly because they don’t have any sugar, and when you’re trying to stay off of sugar, to heal your gut, or just to avoid it in general so you can save it for the real treats, Lily’s is a pretty great option. Their Chocolate is not Dutch processed, or processed with alkali, which means in theory it should have more bioavailable nutrients. I’m still looking for a chocolate company without sugar, or sugar alcohols, and preferably organic, but in the meantime Lily’s is great, if you can temper yourself.

I’ve still never learned how to make chocolate bars.
